Hello and welcome to my unique practice, A Place Within. Although trained in traditional talk therapy, I also focus on creative therapies that integrate the mind, body, and spirit. These include sandplay therapy for adults and children, play therapy for children, dream work, art, and hypnotherapy. Rather than staying in the analytical areas of the brain, as talk therapy traditionally functions, these creative approaches integrate the whole brain into treatment.
My approach is Jungian, holistic, humanistic, and existential; meaning I believe that people mean well and strive towards the good in life. It also means I find value in our need to honor and explore deeper life questions regarding the meaning and purpose of our lives. I believe that therapy is for everyone, struggles affect everyone, they transcend religions, race, culture, and education. As a result, I focus on life improvement and personal grown in my practice. |
Credentials |
I am an independently licensed professional counselor in Illinois (LCPC), Missouri (LPC), and in Ohio (LPCC). I currently serve clients in all three states. I began my career in the field of social services in 1999, eventually earning my Master's in Professional Counseling in 2005, and my full clinical license in 2007. I have worked for a wide variety of agencies before starting my private practice in 2007. In 2008 I earned the credential of Registered Play Therapist, in 2017 I earned the credential of Registered Sandplay Practitioner. I am qualified to supervise counselors in training, and provisionally licensed counselors in Illinois and Missouri. I am also able to supervise those aspiring to become Registered Play Therapists, as I am a Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor. I am the only clinician in the state of Missouri with a credential from Sandplay Therapists of America, and one of few in Illinois.

Career |
I have extensive experience working with children and adults, as well as in counseling individuals, families and groups. In addition to private practice, I have worked with clients in agency, community, outpatient, in-patient, school, and home settings. I also speak Spanish and have worked with Spanish speakers since the inception of my career in 1999.
